Daphne Du Maurier
Escritora británica
Daphne Du Maurier nació el 13 de mayo de 1907 en Londres.
Con dieciocho años se inició en la escritura de relatos que se publicarían tiempo después en El manzano (1952).
En el año 1932 contrajo matrimonio con el comandante general sir Frederick Browning.
Consiguió su primer éxito con La posada de Jamaica (1936) donde trata sobre el contrabando en la costa de Cornualles.
En 1939, Alfred Hitchcock lo llevó al cine. La fama le llegó por su novela Rebeca (1938), adaptada al cine también por Hitchcock (1940) donde se narra el sometimiento de la mujer dentro del matrimonio.
Posteriormente escribió La cala del francés (1941). Su novela Mi prima Raquel (1951) alcanzó cierta popularidad y también fue adaptada al cine en 1953.
Sus relatos Los pájaros (1952) y Ahora no mires (1971) fueron llevados al cine en 1963 y 1973, respectivamente.
Además, escribió obras históricas, de teatro y la biografía de su padre, el actor y director Gerald du Maurier.
Daphne Du Maurier falleció en Par, Cornualles, Inglaterra, el 19 de abril de 1989.
